Game one:
Long Shots vs
Wheels
Shots 11 - Wheels 10
The Longshots finished their year of (modest) improvement by holding off a determined, last inning comeback effort by The Wild Wheels, ending the regular season with a "V".
Pacing the Longshot squad was leadoff man Woody, named for a frequently solid appendage (his left ear), who went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Jack went 2 for 3, including a double, an RBI and a run scored. Newcomer Ryan Goodrow filled in nicely with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.
The Longshots had been surly and withdrawn until a familiar Ice Cream Truck screamed into the Eddie Tam parking lot in the second inning and their leader, Superhero "CYBERCHUCK", ran into the dugout and raised spirits with his trademark beard and "good humor".
The Wheels fought hard, led by leadoff man Roger (3-4 3 runs), Jeff (3-4 3 runs), and Murph who went 3-4 also. The Wild Wheels got through a rebuilding year and finished 1-13, then Roger was overheard guaranteeing this Fall they would double their win total.
The Longshots now set their goal for next season on finishing over .500 for the first time since 1923, when CYBERCHUCK started the team with Ty Cobb's uncle pictured HERE..

Game Two:
Freds vs
No Hea
Freds 19 - No Hea 1
In the second game of the day, an inspired Fred's squad played perhaps their best all-around game of the season to beat No Hea.
No Hea was led offensively by Brandon, 2 for 2; Boy, 2 for 2, 1 run scored; Ron, 1 for 1, 1 RBI; and Larry, 1 for 1.
Fred's hitting was led by Kris, 3 for 3, 3 runs; Jeff, 3 for 3, double, HR (8), 3 RBI, and 4 runs; JR, 3 for 4, 2 runs; and Zac, 2 for 3, 1 RBI, 3 runs.
Fred's Electric ends the regular season at 9-5, while No Hea finishes their first HSL season at 1-13. Don't count either team out come tournament time. If No Hea can find some more consistency in their defense, they've got the bats to make some noise. As for Fred's, although suffering a somewhat disappointing regular season is starting to play pretty well and should prove to be a tough out for anyone.

Game Three:
King of the Road vs
Strokes
Kings 12 - Strokes 11
The King of the Road team held on to beat the much improved (and younger)
Strokes sqaud. The closely contested battle ended in a 12-11 victory for
the Kings.
The Kings had to survive an offensive outburst by Boise who went 3 for 3
with 2 homeruns, 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Also contributing for the
Strokes were Rueben who went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored. Rueben
also pitched a Hell of a game but couldn't get a call from the home plate
umpire. Tyler chipped in going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
The much improved King of the Road team were led by two of their veteran
players. Ray hit 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns, a double and 5 ribbies. That
feat earned Ray the Hotdog of the Week honors. The ageless wonder, Benito
was 3 for 4 with a RBI and 1 run scored. Bee also pitched an excellent game
and struck out a Stroke with one of his patented trick pitches.
It's been
rumored that the Strokes are still whinning about that one.
Andrew had a
good day at he plate going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's, and Paul continued his
solid play by going 3 for 5 with a double.
The Strokes were able to get the tying run to third base and the winning run
at the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but solid infield play by Matty
and Kepa preserved the victory.
The King of the Road team finished 10-4 for a tie for 2nd place and the
Strokes finished with a respectable 7-7 mark for 5th place.
