    Week 1
    ~ Last Saturday's games ~

Game one: Good Strokes vs Pounders
    Pounders 12 - Strokes 4

The Pounders clinched their second consecutive league title this past Saturday by shutting out the short handed Strokes 10-0. Pitchers Geoff Green and Ken Kleid combined to stifle the Strokes' batters on a day when the light and variable winds kept the ball from leaving the park.

Despite having three runners thrown out at home, the Pounders built an insurmountable lead as they capitalized on some timely hitting and Stroke's errors. Rob Roberts homered for the second week in a row and Fred B. ignited a two out rally in the bottom of the sixth with a gapper to right center that allowed the ten run rule to come into effect. The Strokes were led by Tim Mendelson and Lenny Castelanos who both had a pair of hits.

Next week, the Pounders finish off the regular season against the Cyber Chucks, more commonly known as Y2K while the Strokes take on Polli's.

Game Two: Freds vs King of the Road
King of the Road 10 - Freds 7

In the second game of the morning, King of the Road beat a game Fred's squad 10-7. Leading the way for the surprising King of the Road team was Kepa, who went three for three with 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored.

Fred's offense was anchored by Jeff C. who was two for four with a homer and 2 RBI's. Jeff's homerun was follwed by Dale's solo shot.

Fred's managed to mount an exciting comeback bid in the top of the seventh. They managed to bring the tying run to the plate, but Benito (Bagger Vance) Alconcel induced Jeff to pop out to left to end the game. Good fun was had by both teams following the game.

Game Three: Long Shots vs No Hair B.A.
    Shots 9 - No Hair 6

On another day with the winds blowing Kona, Long Shots and No Hair played their first game against each other at Haliimaile. Both teams came looking for their first win of the season.

The game started out like it would be low scoring, with a 1 to 1 tie in the first inning. No Hair came out in the second inning scoring 4 runs and put the pressure on Long Shots to put some bigger numbers on the scoreboard. Long Shots came back with seven runs in the bottom of the second to answer back. In the 4th inning Long Shots scored 11 runs including the first Long Shots Home run over the fence by Leighton. No Hair was unable to make up the runs and the game finished 20 to 6 giving Long Shots their first win of the season.

One of the key's to the win came from 2 out clutch hits by Jack Johnson. Jack came to the plate 3 times with 2 outs and got rbi hits that helped win the game and gave him a 4 for 4 day with 5 rbi's. Other big hitters for Long Shots were Leighton, 3 for 4 with a 3 run homerun and Dano Fanara's 2 for 3 including a double and a walk. For No Hair, Kaipo was 2 for 3 with 3 rbi's.

On the defensive side Long Shots came up with good plays in the outfield including a throw from Leighton in Left Center Field to Dale Cammarata at 3rd base who applied the tag for an out. Pitcher Chuck McMillan managed 2 strike outs in the winning effort. Both the outfield and infield played well in this 1st win of the season.
