Game one:
King of the Road vs
Pounders
Kings 11 - Pounders 10
In the first game of the day that is now being called, "Upset Saturday", the
King of the Road team beat the once mighty Pounders 11-10. Benito led the
King's offense by going 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's. Both Matty and James swatted
triples that brought in two runs a piece.
Sean went 2 for 4 with a dinger and a double for 2 RBI's. Also contributing
to the Pounders offense were Shad who hit a 2 run homer, and Matt who went
2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Trox remained hot hitting 2 doubles, a single, and 1
RBI.
The Pounders had several outfield blunders, ansd some base running miscues
that were costly to the previously undefeated Pounders. In the top of the
seventh inning, Sean brought the Pounders to with in one run with his two
run error/homer. The Pounders had the tying run on third when it was
decided to walk Shane to load the bases with two outs. Benito then enticed
Shad to ground out to Kepa to end the game.
It was rumored that at least two members of the King of the Road squad
crashed the Pounder's "Victory Party" at Steve P.'s house after all the
games had been played. Those rumors are yet to be substantiated.

Game Four:
Long Shots vs
Freds
Shots 17 - Freds 7
This game was like being the anchor man in a 4 man relay race. All other underdogs had won their game and the Long Shots were expected to win the last leg of the relay to complete the string of upsets this Saturday. It seemed a difficult task for the Long Shots, they were without their lead off hitter Kyle Borchert and it was up to his good friend John Woody to take his spot. They were also trying out their new short stop Ted in his first game of the season. Fred's is no easy team to beat.
A 6 run first inning helped get the Shots off the starting blocks. When Fred's went the first 4 innings without a run it seemed more inevitable than just possible. With a chance of a ten run loss in the 5th inning Fred's caught there second wind and put 7 runs on the board to make it 16 to 7 and avoided the dreaded 10 run rule. But nothing could stop Upset Saturday and they were eventually defeated 17 to 7 at the end of the 6th. The Hill loved it and an almost magical atmosphere was left in the dust of this unbelievable day.
Long Shots bats were led by Ray Velazques who went 4 for 5 with 1 dbl, 3 triples, 1 rbi and 1 run scored. Chuck McMillan went 3 for 3 with 1 HR, 2 singles,1 BB, 3 rbi's and 2 runs scored. Jack Johnson was 3 for 5 with 3 rbi's and 1 run scored. Defensively Long Shots were led by their new Short Stop Ted who earned his Short Stop Position.
For Fred's it was Jeff Cochran who went 1 for 1, a double and 2 walks with 1 run scored. Kris Vadla was 2 for 3 with 1 rbi and 1 run scored.
