Beating the Pounders? ... A Longshot!!!by Gator The last game of the day, and the last game of the HSL regular season, between the red-hot, sizzling Pounders, who finished the season with 8 straight wins, and the "luke cold" Long Shots, who always live up to their good sportsmanship by scraping together 10 guys to put on the field. The result was another ho-hum hitting barrage by the Pounders that left the Long Shots players wondering if their pitcher, CyberChuck, can add anymore rubbish to his pitching repertoire - a repertoire ranging from dirtballs falling 8 feet short of the plate to skyballs barely kept in play by the backstop. Other than CyberChuck working some decent grabs to plug the middle and to keep from getting killed by Pounder "rockets", the Shots did nothing worth mentioning in their feeble attempt to score 8 runs. And for their good natured effort today, they are rewarded by drawing the unquestionable favorite to win next weekend's "end of the season" tournament (the Pounders) in the first game of the tourney, no doubt resulting in their first loss. A complete other website would be needed to give the Pounders all the props they deserve for their dominance today. Special mention goes out to Pounder slugger "Shawnny" who stroked his 13th homerun of the season to claim the "bomb" title, beating out Jerry, of King of the Road, who had 12 homeruns going into this weekend and decided to try to win the title by vacationing on the mainland, SHUCKS!! Following Sean's homer title claiming dinger, Pounders Chad & Larry took CyberChuck's garbage out of the park to thrill the crowd with a back to back to back. Adding to the "Shock & Awe" display was the Pounders "BT" doing his usual tormenting of the opponent by peppering the left field line from the left side of the plate. Game over. Aloha, "Gator" | |
