Hali'imaile Softball League

Field Clean-Up Day went a lot easier due to the efforts of the Maui County Crew that serviced the playing area a few weeks ago, Mahalo to Keoni & his crew. A good turn out to discuss a couple of rule changes:-

1. To qualify for Tourney play, a player MUST have played at least THREE regular season games.

2. A batter must NOT step on, OR in front of the plate, failure will result in an automatic OUT.

KINGS win the play-off and hence they are Champions of the Summer Season 2011, Stats all up to date thru season end. Tournament will start 9am November 12th. cdg

KINGS force a playoff game to be played Nov 5th @ 10:00am vs Kahokus. cdg

BBB's (13) almost got another win, pouring the pressure on the Mighty Wheels (14). Standings updated, Stats as soon as I get them!. cdg

The 2011 HSL Spring Tournament started off on Sat morning at 8:00am sharp, with all the teams fully loaded and ready to go. With the five time defending champs No Hea Black Ass ready for a sixth straight title. No other team had ever won the tourney. The Wheels have been in the league for 24 years without a championship. As the two squared off in the undefeated game on Sunday, The Wheels escaped with a one run win. Zac Bailey displayed unreal offense and defensive skills, with two game saving catches plus the game winning hit. NoHeaBlackAss showed their champion qualities by knocking off the next two teams they faced for a date with the Wheels in the champioship game, as the winds of change blew, the Wheels completed the impossible dream. Defeating the reigning champs the Wheels walked away with their first ever championship, Congrats. Third baseman Eric had timely hits and outstanding defensive fortitued, pitcher Jeff Red Moule pitched a great game, A definite team win. Your commish Shawn.

Kahoku to replace Lost & Found

It was a beautiful weekend at the ballpark. Once again No Hea Black Ass proved to be to much to handle. After losing the first game of the championship, they went out and handled their business in the win or go home game against Lost and Found. What a battle of power.

I would like to thank everybody who pitched in and helped. You are greatly appreciated. This was a very successful year. Your commish Shawn.

The year was summer of twenty-ten, not long ago, I remember when the god of softball `Mo' loudly spoke `mid jeers & cheers and charcoal smoke ...

Team lists still needed, I have posted most of the Stats to date, please check your names are spelt correctly! It gets harder to correct later :-) ... colin

Despite liying under oath, an HSL player obtains a restraining order against the webmaster and music host of the HSL .... time for all real men to stand up against the corrupt system. How can Roger Clay lie and still obtain an RO, with apparent immunity from prosecution for perjury. We live Maui .. we know that the courts do what they want, rather than what the legislature demands! How do we rectify this injustice ....

The seasons starts June 26th, with Lost & Found replacing the departed Low Key, for the first game of the summer season. Schedule posted, will get to the results ASAP.

The 2010 HSL Spring Tournament went very well, with NoHea Black ASS beating the Wheels 11 to 10 in the first game of championship round. Securing the tourney win, along with the improbable undefeated season. Congratulations NOHEA BLACKASS you guys were awesome.

The Wheels had to play King Of The Road for a shot at the championship. Wheels started off hot and continued to produce runs and timely defense. Craig lifted the wheels with a key grand slam home run in the 5th for insurance runs. The Wheels were responsible for 13 double plays and a triple play in 6 games outstanding. Kyle Burch's untimely prediction that KOR would beat the Wheels fell short, `Sorry Kyle, but I like your enthusiasum. Mahalo for everyones help'.

Notable accomplishment go out to Mr. Steve Parabicoli - Wheels, & Mr. Tyrone KOR, for a share of the batting title at .714 great hitting guys.
Most walks [Golden cane] goes to Benito - KOR 14, Good eye babe.
Home runs with 9 and rbi's with 43, Goes to Shawn, Wheels, and MVP to Shawn as well, outstanding.
The Jonathan Waxman award went to Uncle Wayne from Team OFF, this award is given to the most selfless person who helps the league, mahalo again Wayne.
I also want to thank Jeff 'Red' Moule for doing the schedule and brackets for the tourney.

The next season will begin June 26th. Everybody get healed up , and lets hit it hard again in a couple of weeks. Thanks again to everyone, Love everybody, your commish... shawn

May 22nd will start 10:15am for three make-up games, a week off, then the Tournament June 5th & 6th.

As of April 24th the Wheels have compiled 8 wins & 3 losses, with a battle against King of the Road on May1st for second place. No Hea is still undefeated @ 11-0. Kevin Ferara played with us last week (not a bad pick-up)
The Beach Bums continue to turn the most routine of plays into an adventure.
The BBQ is still a highlight with lamb shank & champagne a few weeks ago!

Now ... down to business:-
Bob, after your departure, the Wheels were compelled to search the roster for someone who can at least match your phenomenal talents and matchless moxie as a veteran softball icon at Hali'imaile Park.
It was no easy task, but alas, we found a player so extraordinarily dominant & athletically prominent, he may even surpass your own stellar prowess on the diamond.
That player, Dave Murphy, may even change the face of the HSL forever.
Bob, we miss you , but Mr Murphy looks like he is the missing link to a successful Wheels season. You can try out again next season and attempt to supplant Mr Murphy from the starting position on the roster. We know it won't be easy.
I might suggest a vigorous exercise program & perhaps a consultation with a sports psychologist,
